Objectives of The BGIA
The Bahamas General Insurance Association was established to:
- Protect the interests of the general insurance business.
- Increase public awareness of the benefits of general insurance.
- Promote professional education for members.
- Participate in civic affairs.
- Consider issues relating to the general insurance industry, and to Bahamian trade and commerce.
- Represent the opinion of the Association to responsible authorities.
- Review legislative and other measures affecting the general insurance industry, and Bahamian trade and commerce.
- Collect, examine and distribute statistical and other information relating to the general insurance industry and to Bahamian trade and.
- Publish promotional materials and engage in public relations activities.
- Affiliate with similar commercial, civic, or professional organizations around the world.
- Promote and maintain high ethical standards amongst members.
- Engage in other activities incidental or conducive to the attainment of these objects.
