Objectives of The BGIA

The Bahamas General Insurance Association was established to: 

  1. Protect the interests of the general insurance business.
  2. Increase public awareness of the benefits of general insurance.
  3. Promote professional education for members.
  4. Participate in civic affairs.
  5. Consider issues relating to the general insurance industry, and to Bahamian trade and commerce.
  6. Represent the opinion of the Association to responsible authorities.
  7. Review legislative and other measures affecting the general insurance industry, and Bahamian trade and commerce.
  8. Collect, examine and distribute statistical and other information relating to the general insurance industry and to Bahamian trade and.
  9. Publish promotional materials and engage in public relations activities.
  10. Affiliate with similar commercial, civic, or professional organizations around the world.
  11. Promote and maintain high ethical standards amongst members.
  12. Engage in other activities incidental or conducive to the attainment of these objects.
