Protect Your Trip Investment

Travel insurance covers financial and other losses that may occur while traveling. Nothing is more disappointing than having to cancel a vacation, except losing all your nonrefundable payments.

Policies may cover a single trip, or all travel during a specified period. The most common risks covered are:

Loss of Deposit

Reimbursement of pre-arranged travel and accommodation expenses in the event of cancellation, delayed departure or curtailment.

Baggage

Reimbursement for loss or damage to baggage and other personal effects.

Cash

Reimbursement for loss of money, traveller's cheques and travel documents.

Medical Expenses

Hospital treatment, repatriation expenses, overseas funeral expenses, travel expenses of a relative or friend who must escort the insured.

Personal Accident and Liability

Accidental death, injury or disablement benefit. Personal liability and rental car damage excess.

Some travel policies will also provide cover for additional costs, although these vary widely between providers.

Separate insurance must be arranged for specific costs involving high-risk sports or travel to high-risk countries.
