About Us

The Bahamas General Insurance Association (BGIA) is a trade group representing insurers, agents, brokers and adjusters in the Bahamas.

The BGIA meets regularly and represents the views of its members to the government and various other bodies.

A full-time coordinator, who reports to an elected executive consisting of a chairperson, deputy chairperson, secretary and treasurer, manages day-to-day affairs.

The Association has promulgated a professional code of practice outlining how to conduct insurance business in a fair and ethical manner. All BGIA members are expected to adhere to the code, which is published on this web site.

The Association’s headquarters is in the Royal Palm Mall on Mackey Street, in the city of Nassau's, on the island of New Providence, in the Commonwealth of the Bahamas.
